10th Annual Run to Remember

The 10th Annual Run to Remember held on May 3rd, 2014 is a 5K USATF certified chip-timed 5k Run/non-competitive 5k walk on Chicago’s lakefront featuring a junior jog, family friendly After-Party, appearances by the CPD Mounted Unit, K-9 Unit, and helicopter unit as well as a children’s activities area and performances by the Pipes and Drums of the Emerald Society. The R2R starts and finishes at Gold Star Families Memorial and Park, located just east of Soldier Field. 

WHAT: Nearly 6,000 citizens, police officers, families of fallen officers and supporters of the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation are expected to participate in the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation’s 10th annual Run to Remember. The event is a 5k run and walk in honor of Chicago’s true heroes – Chicago police officers that have been killed or seriously injured in the line of duty.

 

WHEN: Saturday, May 3, 2014. The race and walk will step off at 8:00 am.

ABOUT THE CHICAGO POLICE MEMORIAL FOUNDATION

 

The Run to Remember raises funds and awareness for the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation, which provides financial support to families of officers killed or severely injured in the line of duty. Since its inception, the Foundation has built a police memorial that is a national standard-bearer. The Foundation has also donated more than $3.4 million to family members of Chicago Police officers in need of assistance.

 

The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation is a not-for- profit organization dedicated to honoring the lives of our fallen heroes. The Foundation provides support and assistance to the families of Chicago Police Officers who were killed or catastrophically injured in the line of duty.

 

Established in 2004, the Foundation strengthens the relationship between the Chicago Police, its business and civic leaders, and its citizenry. It allows us to express our gratitude to the fallen Officers’ families for the ultimate sacrifice of their loved one.
