Available from Saturday, May 24, 2025 – Sunday, August 31, 2025
Each year, the Jumping Jack Program delights children across Chicago. This inflatable playground, provided by the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE), is available for FREE on Saturdays and Sundays. The Jumping Jack is limited to residential block parties only within the Chicago city limits.

- Requests for Block Party Permits from the Aldermanic Offices must be received by the Department of Transportation within three (3) business days before the event to ensure the permit is issued.
- Permits will be issued no later than 2 weeks before the requested block party date.
For a block party to be approved and issued by the Chicago Department of Transportation, the Aldermanic Office must enter the permit request in which the block party is taking place in the Service Request (CSR) system. Your permit will be emailed to you. If you have questions, please email [email protected].
Entry of the request constitutes the Aldermanic request for a recreational street closing following the provisions of Section 9-12-040 of the Municipal Code of the City of Chicago.
C.F.D. Presence – Updated May 30, 2025
- All C.F.D. equipment is considered “in-service,” meaning that if an emergency occurs, it will take priority and the C.F.D. will respond to the incident.
- The C.F.D. will NOT turn on fire hydrants or give rides.
- Confirmations for block parties will no longer be provided. The C.F.D. will make every attempt to honor all Block Party or Special Event requests.
- Requests MUST be submitted at least 14 days before the event. Failure to do so may result in the inability to schedule the tour.
